WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN
  • Mindfulness
According to leader in the field of emotional intelligence, Daniel Goleman, the development of emotional intelligence relies on becoming more self-aware, which can be trained through mindfulness. Mindfulness, as being aware and open in the present, enables stability of mind and insight into how you are feeling, thinking and reacting. Mindfulness leads to better judgment and emotional balance, especially in difficult situations. This training teaches the neuroscience behind mindfulness and how to cultivate it as the foundational skill that enables emotional awareness, a calm and clear mind, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Calmness and Strength
Learn breathing techniques to calm and strengthen the nervous system, as preparation and ongoing support for mindfulness practices. Practicing these simple techniques leads to a variety of benefits such as reduced anxiety, reduced reactivity, and improved sleep.
  • Self-Awareness
Challenging situations require us to have a keen sense of our own reactions and of the patterns of behavior and leadership that we bring to each conversation. This training’s self-awareness practice enhances your perception of your emotions, habits, and behavior patterns. In particular, you’ll learn how to gather useful data from unpleasant emotions that arise from setbacks, without becoming overwhelmed by them. Outcomes include:

    • Become comfortable with your emotional range
    • Be able to accurately assess yourself
    • Develop self-confidence
  • Self-Regulation
To navigate opportunities and challenges, one needs to confidently manage one’s reactions and response. Building on self-awareness, this training teaches how to identify and work with emotional triggers and other difficult situations. Specific practices are taught so that you:

    • Learn to pause before reacting to your emotional triggers
    • Develop inner strength and ability to productively deal with difficult situations
    • Increase your resilience and ability to respond to setbacks
  • Joy and Equanimity
    • Learn how to access Joy on demand
    • Develop the ability to calm and center yourself in the moment and at will
  • Motivation
When your work and life are aligned with your values and emotional tendencies, you will be more engaged in what you do, and more successful in reaching your goals.

    • Discover and hone the values that drive your actions
    • Learn practices to dream big and increase motivation
    • Practice emotional and cognitive resilience, trainable skills that enable you to persevere towards your goals
  • Empathy
Effective leaders and teammates are those who can understand colleagues and build relationships and trust. Understanding the science and practice of empathy also supports diverse teams to be more inclusive of their diversity. This training teaches habits to increase empathy and strengthen your ability to understand others’ feelings and perspectives.

    • Understand the neuroscience of empathy
    • Develop the mental habits of kindness, goodwill, and objectivity
    • Learn to attune to the emotional undertone in relationships
  • Leadership Skills
Emotional intelligence is an essential leadership skill. Learn to lead with compassion, even while making difficult decisions, and how to communicate with greater insight into the different layers of emotions, perspectives, and identity that drive relationships.

    • Become skillful at influencing with compassion

AUDIENCE

The training can be customized to work for a variety of participants:

  • Leaders and Managers. The training teaches senior leaders and managers how to get breakthrough results in a way that is inspiring, engaging and compassionate. Through enhanced self-awareness and empathy, leaders learn to communicate better, strengthen relationships, and lead with greater presence and impact.
  • Employees. This training is based on what was started as an open-enrollment program for any Google employee. Due to its success, that program has been expanded from reaching dozens of employees per year to now thousands. This training is based on that program and works well for any employee that wants to develop personally, increase their well-being and be a better teammate.
  • Teams. When a team participates in the training together, they create a common language around emotional intelligence, good communication and navigating challenges.
TRAINING OPTIONS

The shape the training takes is based on what works best for you and your organization. Here are examples of the ways it can be structured.

  • An 8-part program to support participants to make habit changes at work that lead to greater well-being and emotional intelligence. Each part is 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the elements you want to have included.
    • The sessions can be done in 8 consecutive weeks early morning or on weekends or both. Participants are asked to practice what they have learned between live sessions.
    • The 8 parts can be done at a retreat over the course of a minimum of two days.
    • The 8 parts can be divided among a retreat and subsequent weekly sessions.
  • Keynote Address and Introductory Programs are an introduction to mindfulness practices to develop perspective and presence as a leader or team player. This is a way to introduce this work to your organization that has both immediate benefits and gives you an in-depth introduction to what is covered in the 8-part program.
  • Wisdom Circles are single sessions to support and build upon the work done in the 8-part program. They can be scheduled at intervals which best serve your organization’s needs and goals.
  • Coaching provides guidance to drill down on specific needs and goals of individuals in your organization to further develop self-awareness, interpersonal skills, leadership and teamwork.
  • Breath-work and Movement derived from classical Yoga – suitable for all body types and levels of flexibility – can be incorporated into all training options to facilitate and deepen the acquisition of the core mindfulness and emotional intelligence skills addressed in the training.
TRAINING COST

The fees for this training are scalable, depending on the elements included, the number of people involved and the ability to pay. My primary goal is to be of service, making these practices available to all who want to acquire them. I will work with you to do this in a way that is both affordable and cost-effective.
